Oregon Mentors Leadership
Oregon Mentors has two core leadership teams: our Board of Directors, and our Statewide Provider Council. To ensure good collaboration two provider council members serve on the board of directors.
Board of Directors
Our Board is comprised of executives, community and government leaders, and elected officials who work to remove barriers to the success of mentoring and uncover new resources for expansion. For example, in 2001 the Board played a role in moving a bill through the legislature that provides free and more timely background checks to many volunteers – saving eligible programs thousands of dollars and hours a year.
Current Projects
Our Board has three main goals this year: (1) participate in Oregon Mentors’ goal of recruiting 20,000 new mentors by 2010; (2) continue to assist Oregon Mentors in raising our annual operating budget; and (3) create a legislative agenda that will funnel resources towards mentoring programs throughout the state.
Provider Council
The Provider Council is comprised of executive directors and program managers from mentoring programs around the state. This council sets our agenda to advance all mentoring programs and considers issues that affect the field of mentoring.
With the Provider Council's feedback and creativity, the staff at Oregon Mentors works to fulfill its mission to connect more young people with caring adults.
